Richter Safari Park is Hungary’s first and only drive-through safari park, offering all-day recreation for children and adults alike on a 32-hectare area in Nagykőrös, only 50 minutes from Budapest.
József Richter Jr., the founder and owner of Richter Safari Park, was the first in Hungary who, following international animal welfare guidelines, decided to remove the wild animals from the circus work at the Hungarian National Circus and place them in a suitable environment where they can enjoy well-deserved rest while maintaining their connection to humans. After the opening, the park staff continues to take in, rescue, and rehome circus animals.
Our vision is to develop a European-level zoo and adventure park that not only brings nature closer to visitors in an adventurous, entertaining and educational way, but also functions as a nature conservation center through the establishment of international cooperation, which helps species conservation by providing special habitats and conducting appropriate research.
Thanks to the large area, a safari trail of over 3 kilometres awaits visitors, which you can drive around with your own car or in a group on the park’s little train. Along the trail, most animals can be hand-fed with treats available for purchase in the park.
After the safari route, many additional programmes and attractions await guests in the theme park. The predator safari and monkey tour, unique programme opportunities in Hungary, allows you to drive among big cats and hamadryas baboons in specially designed caged vehicles and admire the animals up close.
You can walk along the petting zoo trail, feeding and petting our native animals. The amusement park has lots of games, dodgems, carousels, merry-go-rounds, slides, bouncy castles and go-karts for youngsters.
In the circus tent, our artists entertain the audience with high-quality shows, while visitors can also watch elephant training sessions and flying trapeze show outdoors.
At the end of the day, you can take a pleasant walk around the shores of the lake surrounding the area, with water bikes and a playground available.
The Richter Safari Park buffets offer cold and warm meals and drinks to the visitors.
